Overlanding Community has been created by people who have travelled around the world both as members of an organised trip as well as independently.
The concept of this website is for all of those considering an overland trip to read independent opinions and advice from people who have actually been on one. Find out what you really need, what is available when you are out there and all those great places to visit when you are on your own.
Free feel to use this space to provide constructive criticism and general feedback on the way overlanding companies (Dragoman, Exodus, Tucan to name just a few) are running their trips, comments on the itineraries they select, omissions or inclusions that have made your trip the best or the worst experience of your life - as this can happen!
The website came about because of the lack of concise information that we could obtain before we travelled with an overland company in 2005. The usual online forums would have the odd thread here or there but it was all too sparse. And the comments on the companies’ website were also always positive which doesn’t help your decision.
Having returned from travelling in 2006 and searching again we found the same questions were being posed on web forums. And again no central point for independent opinions to be voiced, so the website was conceived.
So, comment as you wish, register to write your own posts or just read what other people have to say.
Please note we have no financial affiliation to any of the overlanding companies mentioned on the site.

Overlanding Community announces its official launch effective from 1st December 2006.
The Launch of Overlanding Community will Ensure an Effective Platform for Group Travellers to Provide Feedback to Overland Companies and their Services. As well as Serve as a Hub of Opinions for Those Looking for Advice Before Travelling and Staying in Touch Afterwards.
UK, London, December 2006 - The lack of independent information and opinions on overland operators became obvious in early 2005 when researching for available trips. However, on returning a year later after having travelled the world, nothing had changed. Therefore, overlandingcommunity.com was born to redress the situation.
Although well known travel forums provide limited feedback, it is sometimes difficult to find specific answers and the same questions get asked over and over again. The majority of people are looking for advice about a trip or a company. Therefore, providing a reference point specifically geared for overlanding should fill the gap.
It will provide travellers information to make a more informed decision and gain a better insight into what to expect. Considering the cost of these excursions, ranging from hundreds to thousands of pounds, it is not a decision to be taken lightly.
Overlanding community is a young site but already has had extremely positive feedback from the within the industry and general public, with a growing number of registered members. It looks forward to working as part of the travel community for travellers.
