Antarctica cruises Fuel surcharges

Many overland companies offer add on packages to the antarctic, but these too have been hit hard by fuel prices. Tucan have recently added US$600 due to their supplier Antarpply Expeditions adding a fuel surcharge. Read more

  1. There may be fewer cruise ships operating in these waters if the proposed new rules to the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships come into force that would compel operators to use greener fuels by mid 2011.

    In addition the use of the cleaner by more expensive fuel type is implemented will have a knock on effect on the price per passenger. However this may prove a successful way in limiting the number of tourist willing to undertake the voyage.
