Chaiten volcano erupts in Chile

Category: Overlanding Travel News | May 3, 2008 By admin

The Chaiten volcano erupted on Thursday night firing rocks and ash high in to the atmosphere. It also caused more than 60 small tremors in the Los Lagos region, 750 miles (1,200 kilometers) south of the capital, Santiago. The town of Chaiten has been evacuated and several towns on the Argentina border have also been affected by the ash. This is an area which features in many overland tours.
