Earthquake strikes Greece
Category: Uncategorized | June 8, 2008 By adminA strong earthquake measuring 6.5 has struck close to Patra in western Greece at 3:25 p.m. (13.25 GMT) local time. At least one person has reportedly been killed due to the earthquake. A strong aftershock of 4.7 on the Richter scale was felt half an hour later. Patra is a major ferry port which links Italy and Greece.
Update: There has been an additional reported death and a number of injures whilst a landslide has cut a road at Diakopto. The national railway company OSE has stopped all traffic on the Patras-Pyrgos line. There has also been structural damage to many buildings in the area.
