Tucan Travel is seeking an experienced driver/mechanic to become our fleet co-ordinator based in Cuzco, Peru, commencing training on 01 September 2009.

Tucan Travel has a fleet of 14 Mercedes Benz vehicles of varying ages and models in South America and the fleet co-ordinator will be responsible for all fleet management. The role reports to Tucan Travel’s Latin American based destination manager and will work closely with the crew co-ordinator.

The role involves
Keeping vehicle paperwork (route notes, service records, driver stationery, etc) and vehicle permits up to date
Assisting with the recruitment, training and supervision of drivers
Overseeing the maintenance of vehicles and ensuring that servicing and maintenance is conducted on schedule
Sourcing vehicle parts and camping equipment
Using fleet management software to ensure the fleet runs cost effectively and efficiently
Relief driving on a regular basis
The ideal candidate will have the following skills
- Have excellent organisational skills
- Be competent in all aspects of vehicle mechanics
- Be computer literate
- Have good written and oral communication skills
- Be able to think logically and analytically
- Be flexible and able to make decisions as part of a team

Ideally you should also possess the following
- Have experience as an Overland driver
- Speak basic to intermediate level Spanish
- Have a good knowledge of Latin America

We are looking for a minimum commitment of 12 months. The basic salary will be based on experience and will be between US$420 and $455 per week. In addition the salary package includes a flight allowance, housing allowance and paid annual leave. As the role is based in Cuzco the successful candidate will be responsible for their own relocation costs.
